Squash Butternut Seeds
UNTREATED AND OPEN POLLINATED SEEDS
This popular heirloom winter squash has become our favourite gourd with its lovely, sweet, flavourful orange flesh.
The butternut squash prefers cooler weather (unlike several other summer squash varieties) and produces several bell shaped, light brown colour fruit on each plant. The flesh is soft, with a smooth texture and caramelises beautifully when baked or sauteed. It's rich in vitamin A, and is also great for making soups with a delicious nutty and creamy flavour.
Seeds are usually direct sown into the soil (no nursery) and requires moderate watering. Ready to harvest after 80-10 days.
Ideally grown in cooler weather and sunny, well drained conditions.
